Heading to Bouva

The team had another great clinic today and tonight Pastor Jim preached and the team blessed the congregation by washing their feet.

Tomorrow morning we are heading to Boave to do more medical clinics and a crusade - I'll be "off line" until Thursday!

A quick note from Rebecca -- This week Renel and Rebecca went to Bouva with a medical team from Indiana. The week was very successful and the medical team is now back in Port au Prince and will leave for home tomorrow. Renel and Rebecca have decided to stay on in Bouva to spend some time with Renel's parents who live there. Renel's brother, Enoch, is coming back next week so they will get a ride back to Grande Goave with him.
The Honorat house in Bouva is a traditional Haitian home. It is built of mud with a thatched roof. There is no water and no electricity. They cook using an open fire so Renel went into the mountains today to gather wood for the fire. Water is a 30 min. walk away every morning and the food market is 3 hours away. Rebecca has hurt her shoulder so she is going to take it easy and try and use the week to recuperate. Sounds like Renel will be busy!
Bouva has none of the 'luxuries' of Grande Goave but neither does it have any of the political unrest. The last election announcement was that the results would revert to the original tabulations. That means the incumbent mayor is going to be replaced and he is not happy with that. As a result there have been more rioting and Rebecca and Renel's house was hit with rocks and bottles the night before they left for Bouva. The good news is that GG seems to be the only trouble spot so the UN and the Special Security force has focused their attention there.
Please pray for Rebecca and Renel and for peace in the Grande Goave area. The schools in town have been closed for over a month and the older boys and girls are missing a lot of time in a year that many of them must write comprehensive exams.
